Ryan Church swinging a solid stick for the Washington Nationals

Ryan Church is off to a good start for the Nationals so far this season.  Church has played in 22 games so far this season and he’s 23 for 79 (.291 avg, .883 OPS) with 8 runs scored, 3 homers and 11 RBIs.  Church has played so well with Nook Logan out that he should get to keep the center field job when Logan returns as long as he keeps hitting like he is right now.  The Nationals are having problems scoring runs this season which makes Church’s numbers even more impressive this season.

Brian Schneider needs to start hitting the ball for the Washington Nationals

The Nationals need Brian Schneider to hit the ball because he’s the only legit catcher on the roster for the team.  In 18 games so far this season, Schneider is 10 for 59 (.169 avg, .508 OPS) with 5 runs scored, 1 homer and 9 RBIs.  The Nationals are not a good offensive team as it is, so they need everyone to play as well as they can and so far Schneider has not done that.

The Nationals went 3-4 last week but they were outscored 41-31.  The Nationals at least looked like a major league team last week.  The Nationals are currently in last place in the National League East, 6.5 games behind the Atlanta Braves.

Ryan Zimmerman off to a slow start for the Washington Nationals

Blogged under Front Page, In Need of a Slumpbuster, Bloglockers by chinmusic on Thursday 19 April 2007 at 11:12 pm

Ryan Zimmerman has played in 15 games so far this season and he’s hitting only .203 with a .505 OPS.  He’s 13 for 64 with 6 runs scored and 3 RBIs.  Look for him to pick his game back up soon because he’s too good of a hitter to keep this up.  The Nationals need him to produce like he did last season or they are going to have big-time troubles scoring runs.

The Washington Nationals send OF Kory Casto to the minors

Blogged under Front Page, Bloglockers by chinmusic on Wednesday 18 April 2007 at 1:59 pm

The Nationals have sent Kory Casto to the minor leagues.  Casto struggled in his 8 games in the majors so far as he was 5 of 29 (.172 avg, .398 OPS) with 1 run scored and 1 RBI.  He also whiffed 8 times and that’s way to many.  Chris Snelling will take over as the starting leftfielder as he is 7 for 26 (.269 avg, .924 OPS) with 4 runs scored, 1 homer and 6 RBIs.
