The Nationals have lost infielder Ronnie Belliard for the season due to a pulled groin. Belliard played in 96 games for the Nationals this season and he was 85 for 296 (.287 avg, .845 OPS) with 37 runs scored, 11 homers, 46 RBIs and 3 stolen bases. This is a shame for the Nationals that Belliard got hurt because he has been the best hitter on the team over the last month or so. In his last 30 games of the season, Belliard was 42 for 103 (.408 avg) with 11 runs scored, 3 homers, 21 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. Kory Casto and Aaron Boone will likely share time at first place for the rest of the season.
