The Nationals have re-signed 38-year old righty swinging catcher Jamie Burke to a minor league deal. Burke played in 19 games for the Mariners and Nationals last season and he was 6 for 51 (.118 avg, .340 OPS) with 1 run scored, 1 homer and 2 RBIs. He has now played in 190 games in his 7-year major league career and he is 108 for 390 (.277 avg, .679 OPS) with 53 runs scored, 3 homers and 39 RBIs. It’s always good to have a veteran catcher to teach young pitchers what it takes in the majors and Burke can definitely do that.
