Mike Morse of the Washington Nationals finished 19th in the N.L. MVP Voting

29-year old righty swinging OF/1B Mike Morse finished 19th in the voting for the N.L. MVP Award. Morse played in 146 games for the Nationals last year and he was 158 of 522 (.303 avg, .910 OPS) with 73 runs scored, 31 homers, 95 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. He has now played in 383 games in his first seven years in the majors and he is 338 for 1,140 (.296 avg, .855 OPS) with 146 runs scored, 52 homers, 183 RBIs and 6 stolen bases. Morse is a late bloomer who could be good for a long time for the Nationals.

Daniel Espinosa of the Washington Nationals finished 6th in the voting for the N.L. Rookie of the Year voting

24-year old switch-hitting 2B Danny Espinosa finished in 6th place in the N.L. Rookie of the Year voting. He played in 158 games for the Nationals last year and he was 135 for 573 (.236 avg, .737 OPS) with 72 runs scored, 21 homers, 66 RBIs and 17 stolen bases. Espinosa has now played in 186 games in his first two years in the majors and he is 157 for 676 (.232 avg, .735 OPS) with 88 runs scored, 27 homers, 81 RBIs and 17 stolen bases. Espinosa has good power and speed for a 2B, so he has a bright future with the Nationals.

Wilson Ramos of the Washington Nationals finishes 4th in the N.L. Rookie of the Year voting

24-year old righty swinging catcher Wilson Ramos finished 4th in the N.L. Rookie of the Year voting. He played in 113 games for the Nationals last year and he was 104 for 389 (.267 avg, .779 OPS) with 48 runs scored, 15 homers and 52 RBIs. Ramos has now played in 135 games in his first two years with the Nationals and he is 126 for 468 (.269 avg, .767 OPS) with 53 runs scored, 16 homers and 57 RBIs. Ramos recently was kidnapped in Venezuela, but the police rescued him and he’s back to playing ball. He has a bright future with the Nationals.

Ryan Zimmerman finished 16th in the N.L. voting for the MVP Award

26-year old righty swinging 3B Ryan Zimmerman finished 16th in the voting for the N.L. MVP Award. Zimmerman played in 142 games for the Nationals last season and he was 161 of 525 (.307 avg, .899 OPS) with 85 runs scored, 25 homers, 85 RBIs and 4 stolen bases. Zimmerman has now played in 744 games in his first six years with the Nationals and he is 833 of 2,888 (.288 avg, .839 OPS) with 435 runs scored, 116 homers, 449 RBIs and 22 stolen bases. Zimmerman is one of the best 3B in all of baseball both offensively and defensively so he has a bright future for the Nationals.

Adam Dunn finished tied for 21st for the N.L. voting for the MVP Award

31-year old lefty swinging 1B Adam Dunn finished tied for 21st with catcher Brian McCann of the Braves in the voting for the MVP Award. Dunn played in 158 games for the Nationals last season and he was 145 of 558 (.260 avg, .892 OPS) with 85 runs scored, 38 homers and 103 RBIs. Dunn has now played in 1,448 games in his first 10 years in the majors and he is 1,246 of 4,975 (.250 avg, .902 OPS) with 865 runs scored, 354 homers, 880 RBIs and 59 stolen bases. The Nationals really wanted to re-sign Adam Dunn but it isn’t going to happen as he has inked a 4-year, $56 million dollar deal with the Chicago White Sox.
